UNDERSTANDING REPURPOSED DESIGNER JEWELLERY
WHAT IS REPURPOSING?
Repurposing is the process by which an object with one use-value is transformed or redeployed as an object with alternative use value (Wikipedia)
REPURPOSING DESIGNER JEWELLERY:
Anything can be repurposed you just need a lot! of imagination. Different types of garments can be used in different ways, we love to work with bag charm, keychains, earrings, bracelets and brooch into necklaces, why necklaces? mainly because one size fits all and even with the most basic outfit a necklace makes just make everything better effortless.
‘’There is nothing more useless than a piece that nobody wears or used’‘
Luxury Items
One of the most exciting things about repurposing work is that often hidden treasures can be found. A Chanel brooch which may be very old fashioned can become a stunning garment when it is repurposed or reformed. This is a great way to access fine and luxury designer that may otherwise be too expensive to own.
One of our client’s favourites project:
Repurposing and reusing items is a great way to both save money and also prolong the life of an item. A wide range of items can be recycled and repurposed. This has the dual benefit of helping to save money while also helping the environment. Repurposing helps the environment by reducing the amount of waste that is put into landfills, while also reducing the number of virgin materials that are used to make new items.
Repurposing means taking an item and changing its use. This can be as simple as taking a bag charm and instead used it as a pendant(as we do with our Louis Vuitton padlock necklaces). All that is required to repurpose and reuse items is a little creative thought.
