Celebrate Black History Month with Hidden Knowledge Clothing

Friday, 20 October 2017

Celebrate black history month with one of our items from the Mansa Musa Collection.
Mansa Musa I of Mali is known as the wealthiest person on Earth. Musa had a 25 year reign from 1312 – 1337 and was the 10th Mansa which translates to “King of Kings” or “Emperor” of the Mali Empire.

Musa held many titles during his reign including Emir of Melle, Lord of the Mines of Wangara, Conqueror of Ghanata and many more.

In 1324 he took a well documented pilgrimage to Mecca. While travelling to his destination he gave away so much gold to the poor that the economy took years to recover.

One of his many great feats was ordering and overseeing the building of his grand palace in Timbuktu the great Djinguereber Mosque that still stands today.
