Why size doesn't matter

Thursday, 30 April 2020

I have been wanting to write this blog post for a while as I think a lot of people are put off buying vintage because it might not be the perfect size. I have been buying vintage clothes now for years and I never (unless its smaller) pay too much attention to the size of the piece.

My week in outfits (whilst staying home!)

Thursday, 30 April 2020

I am lucky and grateful enough to be writing this blog post from my garden, drinking a (strong and spicy) Bloody Mary made by my hubby. I am also trying to keep one eye on my ten week old puppy Trouper who is currently zooming around our garden. He is exploring every type of smell and noise and giving me a complete heart attack when he puts a rock, snail, peg or currently his favourite thing my toe in his mouth.

I had this idea of starting a vintage clothing company around two years ago.. wow that has gone so quickly. After finding out about the impact Fashion had on the environment and learning all about garment workers in developing countries and myself being a Fashion Stylist working in the industry and also someone who regularly bought fast fashion I knew I had to change my shopping behaviours and try to do something to counteract my Fashion footprint working for fast fashion brands. I decided one afternoon after watching The True Cost to only wear vintage or preloved clothes – which was a big deal for someone who regularly browsed the Zara website.

Welcome to my first blog post for SAV. I am pretty sure if you are reading this you will already know me. But if by chance you have stumbled across this post I will introduce myself. My name is Jodie and I am the owner of Staying Alive Vintage. I live in a cute retro inspired cottage in the hills of Yorkshire and as well as running SAV I am a Freelance Fashion Stylist too.
