Our Story
About us
Afect Clothing is two friends’ visions about a clothing company and it all started in Helsinki in 2020. We didn’t have any experience in the fashion industry, so we approached this from a consumer perspective. Our perfect match was in our backgrounds – design and business. We were also united by the desire to achieve something meaningful, to help others. This became the core of Afect Clothing on which all things are based.
Purpose of Afect Clothing
Every piece of Afect Clothing apparel has a meaning and a purpose. Its purpose is to be used and enjoyed everyday. It is meant to inspire people in to making better choices in everyday life. It is not a seasonal or a fast fashion product, but it is meant to be worn year after year. Environmental and social issues are what drive us forward. Afect Clothing’s apparel is designed to be long lasting with environment and sustainability in mind at every step of the process. Our apparels are produced on-demand in Helsinki to decrease our environmental impact and to put a stop to fast fashion.
We only use organic cotton and recycled materials. The intention is to integrate sustainability into everything we do and to make deliberate decisions about who we work with, how we work and what materials we use. It is the sustainable and environmental friendly clothing that matters.
Affect for the change
Afect is about inspiring people with better choices. In our mind, clothes are an essential way to communicate one’s personality and values. Clothes are also a simple and powerful way to show your message and support a cause. What we wear will always have an impact on the planet and we can choose to wear clothes which cause less damage.
Every print of ours has a message, that everyone’s actions matters. We want to spread engagement in helping people and making better choices in everyday life. By helping people in need, it will encourage them to do something good for others as well. We believe in this domino effect and that inspiring and being an example for others is the most powerful way. This is where the idea for our prints come from.
Our slogan ‘’Affect for the change’’ means that we have to start to act for the better future. We know that there are no quick solutions but without actions, there is no change. Our belief is that the fashion industry can and will change to be more environmentally friendly. All of us are in this together and responsible for making the world a better place for ourselves and future generations. We are all in this together. As a clothing company, we cannot change the world alone, but that doesn’t stop us from trying.

Transparency is another important subject to us. Consumers need to know what they are really buying, where it was made, and by who. The sustainable future, what we want to achieve
The search for a sustainable future never stops, but we are determined to continue and make decisions that are necessary, and more. We don’t just want to adopt existing methods, we want to lead the way by choosing the latest innovations. Our dedication doesn’t end after archiving goals, it makes us eager to try harder.
Our mission is to be as sustainable and transparent as possible in our business. We want our clothing brand to lead sustainable fashion and company culture away from profits and towards people and nature. We are determined to make a better future for us all.
You never know what the future will bring, but we do know that we will evolve to be a more environmentally friendly and sustainable company. Different technologies will mold our methods and the whole fashion industry. We don’t just want to follow and adopt trends, our goal is to make them. This drives us forward. We want to be the best in what we do.
There are no shortcuts in sustainable fashion. We have already taken the first step to a sustainable clothing company by changing our entire apparel collection. This means we achieved our first milestone by only adopting the materials made from organic cotton and recycled materials. The sustainable journey continues and we are excited for the future. Afect Clothing has been awarded with the “Design From Finland” mark in recognition of its unique Finnish design, sustainable products and producing methods. Our responsibly manufactured products are an environmentally and ethically sustainable choice and recognition for Finnish craftsmanship.
